Educational vegetable garden for the La Léchire College

Context and objective
At La Léchire Middle School, the Municipality of Penthaz generously built vegetable gardens, demonstrating a strong desire to integrate more nature into students’ daily lives. The next step was to find the right support to bring this space to life and unlock its full educational potential. This is where Légumes Perchés stepped in with its “From Seed to Plate” program, designed to guide schools step by step in learning about gardening and sustainable food.
As in many schools, teachers, already heavily invested in their teaching responsibilities, lacked the time and expertise to sustainably maintain the vegetable garden. Thanks to this collaboration, the project took shape: simple and adapted crops were planted, the gardens were animated through seasonal workshops, and a clear structure of activities was established.
Today, the vegetable garden has been transformed into a living learning tool, promoting sensory awakening, understanding of natural cycles and the concrete link between nature, food and health.
The solution implemented
Through our “From Seed to Plate” program, regular workshops allow students to explore new plants, textures, and flavors year after year, while strengthening the connection between nature, food, and learning. The vegetable garden thus becomes a truly living, evolving educational tool that is integrated into daily school life. To ensure its sustainability, Légumes Perchés supports the teaching team with a clear organization of seasonal tasks and planning adapted to timetables, ensuring smooth and sustainable management of the garden.
