Educational vegetable garden for Prélaz College

Context and objective
At Prélaz Middle School, an educational vegetable garden was established with the support of the municipality, reflecting a clear desire to integrate nature into daily school life. But as in many schools, a lack of time, resources, and gardening expertise hampered the maintenance and animation of this space. Teachers, already highly committed to their educational missions, struggled to keep the vegetable garden alive sustainably. Fortunately, a team of motivated teachers took the initiative to revive the momentum, with the help of Légumes Perchés. Together, they restructured the garden, reintroduced simple, seasonal crops, and organized adapted educational activities. The vegetable garden is now once again a living learning tool, stimulating students’ interest in nature, biodiversity, and sustainable food.
The solution implemented
Through our “From Seed to Plate” program, regular workshops allow students to explore new plants, textures, and flavors year after year, while strengthening the connection between nature, food, and learning. The vegetable garden thus becomes a truly living, evolving educational tool that is integrated into daily school life. To ensure its sustainability, Légumes Perchés supports the teaching team with a clear organization of seasonal tasks and planning adapted to timetables, ensuring smooth and sustainable management of the garden.
