Educational vegetable garden for the Coteau-Fleuri primary school
Context and objective
At the Coteau-Fleuri Primary School, an educational vegetable garden was established with the support of the municipality, reflecting a clear desire to integrate nature into daily school life. But as in many schools, a lack of time, resources, and gardening expertise hampered the maintenance and animation of this space. Teachers, already highly committed to their educational missions, struggled to sustain the vegetable garden. The project was in danger of running out of steam, despite its strong educational potential. It is in this context that the “From Seed to Plate” project was carried out during the 2021-2022 school year by the Coteau-Fleuri school, in conjunction with the PSPS team, with the participation of several local entities, including the Coteau-Fleuri APEMS and the CVE de la Grangette. We would particularly like to thank Ms Monique Bréchet, then a school nurse, who initiated this wonderful opening towards the local community.
The solution implemented
Grâce à notre programme “De la graine à l’assiette”, des ateliers réguliers permettent aux élèves d’explorer, année après année, de nouvelles plantes, textures et saveurs, tout en renforçant le lien entre nature, alimentation et apprentissage. Le potager devient ainsi un véritable outil pédagogique vivant, évolutif et intégré au quotidien scolaire. Pour assurer sa durabilité, Légumes Perchés accompagne l’équipe enseignante avec une organisation claire des tâches saisonnières et une planification adaptée aux emplois du temps, garantissant une gestion fluide et pérenne du jardin.
